About Hiking Green Mountain in Lakewood, CO
Green Mountain is part of the 2,400 acre William Frederick Hayden Park. The park system is made of up of rolling hills and summits on the top of Green Mountain at 6,800 feet, well above the Denver Metropolitan area. It is Lakewood's second largest park.
There is a modertely challenging network of trails throughout Green Mountain. On any given day, year around, there are hikers, biceyclists, dogs, wildlife and more using the parks open space. From the summit, you have striking views in every direction. On clear days, you can see several of Colorado's largest mountains: Pikes Peak to the South, Mount Evans to the West, and Longs Peak to the North.
Wildlife on Green Mountain include coyotes, mule deer, rabbits, rattlesnakes, bluebirds, hawks, and occassionally bobcats visit the area. You are sure to see something wild while hiking around Green Mountain.
