About Villars Ski Resort
General:
Villars Ski Resort is a sweet ski area located in the Swiss Alps about an hour and half from Geneva. The Villars terrain is not too difficult, resulting in a lot of beginner skiers. The ski area is spread over miles and miles. You can literally ski from town to town.
The elevation at Villars is not as high as compared to resorts like Val D'Isere or Chamonix so it can get icy on the lower runs. The runs take you above the tree line and even onto a glacier in Les Diablerets at 3000 meters.
Terrain:
Most of the terrain at Villars is made up of groomers. My only complaint about Villars is the lift system. It is old with lots of t-bars and pommel lifts. This is fine if you are skiing but a pain if you are snowboarding. Most resorts that have a pommel lift have it in places to cover a short distance. Villars has them where there obviously needs to be a chair lift, like the pommel lift just keeps going on forever.
Village:
The town of Villars has a lot of quality restaurants, but not too much in the way of nightlife. They do have a few spots that get a crowd on the weekends. For cheap grub, I recommend getting a pizza, they are usually excellent in Switzerland. For those of you who enjoy fine cheese, I recommend having fondue or raclette at least one night.
