Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves
About Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves
General:
The Yampah Vapor Caves are an often overlooked part of the Glenwood Springs tourism scene. Most people discount the Vapor Caves in favor of the larger Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, which happens to be the largest hot mineral springs swimming pool in the world.
The Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves are situated right across 6th street from the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, but are sometimes tough to notice if you are not actually looking for it. The Vapor Caves offer a unique experience different than the Hot Springs Pool in Glenwood Springs.
Facility:
The caves are natural underground hot mineral steam baths consisting of three separate chambers. They are located down some stairs beneath the main building. The temperatures inside the caves are around 110ºF and allow only for brief 10-15 minute stints inside the caves before requiring an escape to the cooler solarium upstairs. There are small cool baths located inside the caves to help quell the heat.
For a genuine spa experience, combine a vapor cave visit with a massage from the upstairs Yampah Hot Springs and relax your worries away.
Atmosphere:
Spa-like. Swimsuits are required and this is not a place for alcohol.
