About Wellshire Golf Course
General:
Ben Hogan played here, have you?, a sign reads outside of Wellshire. Originally a private country club, now public, Wellshire Golf Course offers Denver locals a great course close to home. With excellent views of the front range from nearly every hole, it's always exciting and refreshing to play at Wellshire.
Course:
Wellshire is an easy course because it is very open. Your 2nd shot is always at the green no matter where you hit the ball. Standard golf hazards come into play at Wellshire: water and sand, but on a few holes on the back-nine busy Hampton Avenue comes into the equation. Watch your slice during rush hour on holes 15, 16 and 17.
Wellshire is mostly flat with a few rolling hills throughout. The distance between holes is minimal, so it is an easy golf course to walk. Mature trees outline most off the holes at Wellshire.
The club house at Wellshire is popular in the area for weddings, banquets, company parties or other special receptions. There are two restaurants and a pro shop at Wellshire, as well as a driving range and chipping/putting greens.
The golf course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and voted one of the nation's best public golf facilities.
